Things to do around Portarlington

Gateway to Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula

Portarlington, Victoria, is a small seaside resort on the northern tip of the Bellarine Peninsula. This low-key Australian resort town has long been a favourite holiday destination for Melburnians. In the old days, families would catch 19th-century paddle steamers from Williamstown; a one-hour trip down the coast of Port Phillip Bay by paddlewheel.

The Ozone, sank offshore in 1925 and now forms a breakwater where a paddlewheel can still be seen above the water-line.

Portarlington has a rich history with heritage-listed buildings, museums, pier and marina and restaurants. The region boasts an array of fine wines; be sure to set aside a time to check out wineries such as Scotchmans Hill and Terindah Estate. Ask us about bus tours and Portarlington minibus hire for safe and comfortable transport to and from the wineries.

Naturally, you’ll also enjoy fine cuisine in Portarlington’s diverse cafes and restaurants. Portarlington celebrates the Mussel Festival in January. Fresh local mussels are a feast not to be missed.
